The Scientific Method

Question/Problem:  What do you have a question about? 

Research:  Find information about your question or problem using books, the internet, or an expert.

Hypothesis: After your research, your hypothesis is your guess about the answer to your question or problem.  Your hypothesis must be an “If/Then” statement such as, “If sunlight is necessary for plants to grow, then more sunlight will make the plants grow faster.”

Materials: All of the materials that you use for your experiment.

Procedure:  The procedure is a list of all the steps taken for the experiment

Results:  The results show what happened during and after the procedure.  They are usually shown as a graph.

Conclusion: This is an explanation or why your hypothesis was correct or incorrect.
